On 9 December 2013, at the Patriarchal Palace, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel received His Excellency Archbishop Jean-Louis Brugu\u00e8s, head of the Vatican<\/em>\u2019<\/em>s Apostolic Library and Archives<\/em>. The meeting was also attended by His Excellency Bogdan T\u0103taru-Cazaban, Romanian Ambassador to the Holy See.<\/p>\n

His Excellency Archbishop Jean-Louis Brugu\u00e8s thanked for reception and stressed the importance of preserving and valuing the book and archival ecclesiastic heritage.<\/p>\n

His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel appreciated the undeniable value of ecclesiastical heritage and of the archives to the present and future of any nation. The Patriarch of Romania noted the importance of an adequate legal framework to facilitate access of religious denominations to all documents belonging to their own archives, which are at present in the custody of the State, including those regarding the properties of the religious denominations confiscated by the communist regime.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, there was a proposal that the Romanian Patriarchate and the Apostolic Library organise in common, at the Vatican, an exhibition of books and documents highlighting, for a better international understanding, the Romanian Orthodox history, spirituality and culture.<\/p>\n

The representative of the Vatican was particularly interested in the present educational activity of the Romanian Orthodox Church in this period of economic and spiritual crisis when Europe faces such phenomena as secularism, individualism, poverty, migration, etc.<\/p>\n

His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel reiterated the importance of cooperation of Churches in the promotion of Christian values and affirming solidarity with all Christians victims of violence in different parts of the world today.<\/p>\n
