Gymnasium studies at Bra\u0219ov, Sibiu and Cluj, theological studies at the University of Vienna (1832 \u2013 1836). Secretary of Bishop Vasile Moga (1836 \u2013 1837), priest and archpriest in Bra\u0219ov (since 1837), active participant in the Revolution of 1848 (one of the ten secretaries and member of the Romanian delegation sent to Vienna), co-founder of the Romanian Gymnasium of Bra\u0219ov, (1850), member of the Transylvanian Dieta and member of the imperial Senate. In 1865, he becomes the prime titular of the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Caransebe\u0219, and contributes to the movement of the Romanian section of the Seminary of V\u00e2r\u0219e\u021b (1865) and to the setting up of many “folk\u201d schools. He laid the foundations of the eparchial printing press and library (1885), as well as of the church periodical “Foaia diocezan\u0103\u201d (1886).
