February 1897 \u2013 Rev. theology professor Isidor Onciul passed away in<\/p>\n
Cern\u0103u\u021bi. He graduated the gymnasium (1845 \u2013 1853) and the Theological<\/p>\n
Institute (1853 \u2013 1857) in Cern\u0103u\u021bi, and attended specialization courses<\/p>\n
at the University of Vienna (1857 \u2013 1858). Supervisor of studies at the<\/p>\n
Seminary (boarding school) of Cern\u0103u\u021bi (1858 \u2013 1862), priest at Vicovu<\/p>\n
de Sus, near R\u0103d\u0103u\u021bi (1862 \u2013 1867), substitute professor (1867), then<\/p>\n
titular (1869) for the chair of Old Testament and Semitic Languages at<\/p>\n
the Theological Institute. As soon as the University of Cern\u0103u\u021bi was set<\/p>\n
up, he became titular professor at the new Faculty of Theology (1875 \u2013<\/p>\n
1897), dean of this Faculty five times, hon. metropolitan counselor<\/p>\n
(since 1874), archpresbiter (1880), member of the leadership committee<\/p>\n
of the “Society for the Romanian culture and literature in Bucovina\u201d. He<\/p>\n
