March 1980 \u2013 Professor, composer and conductor IOAN CHIRESCU passed<\/p>\n
away in Bucharest (born on 5\/18 January in Cernavod\u0103, county of<\/p>\n
Constan\u021ba). Studies at the Secondary School “Saint Sava\u201d of Bucharest,<\/p>\n
Central Seminary of Bucharest (1910), Faculty of Theology of Bucharest<\/p>\n
(1910 \u2013 1914), Consevatoire of Music of Bucharest (1914), specialised<\/p>\n
courses at “Schola Cantorum\u201d of Paris (1922 \u2013 1927). He was a music<\/p>\n
professor in Caracal and F\u0103lticeni (1914 \u2013 1922), at “Gheorghe \u0218incai\u201d<\/p>\n
of Bucharest (1922 \u2013 1927), professor at the chair of Theory \u2013 solfeggio<\/p>\n
at the Conservatoire for Music and Art of Bucharest (1928 \u2013 1964). He<\/p>\n
conducted the choirs of the churches of: “Enei\u201d, “St. Visarion\u201d and<\/p>\n
“Cuibul cu barz\u0103\u201d of Bucharest, of the Romanian Orthodox chapel of<\/p>\n
Paris, of the church of “Domni\u021ba B\u0103la\u0219a\u201d of Bucharest (1928 \u2013 1976), of<\/p>\n
“Carmen\u201d choir (1927 \u2013 1950). Works: Liturgy in sol major for joined<\/p>\n
choir (1944); Chants of the Divine Liturgy according to the 6th voice<\/p>\n
