Wednesday, 21 May 2014, the winners of the National Contest of the “Orthodox Icon \u2013 Light of Faith\u201d were awarded prizes and the exhibition of their works was opened. The young painters were awarded prizes by the Patriarch of Romania. The contest was held in two sections: section A, wood painting, and section B, glass painting.<\/p>\n
On this occasion, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel appreciated the results of this year\u2019s edition, the commemorative year of the Brancovean Martyr Saints: “Treating these specific iconographic themes in various versions in the solemn commemorative context of the year 2014 is a spiritual elevation and special aesthetic achievement. The new edition of the contest emphasises the fact that due to the special interest of the participants, the premises making the basis of the annual organisation of this national contest of the icons painters are fully justified and welcomed. The national contest entitled “Orthodox Icon \u2013 Light of Faith\u201d has already become a consecrated frame for cultivating and affirming both the neo-Byzantine art and the talents dedicated to this field of our church painting, a field of great interest for the lovers of Christian Orthodox art\u201d.<\/p>\n
The winners of the contest for Section A (wooden painting)<\/em><\/strong> were the following:<\/p>\n Bogdan Gheorghe Verde\u0219, county of Gala\u021bi \u2013 Prize I.<\/p>\n Sorin Albu, county of Cluj \u2013 Prize II<\/p>\n Alin Bogdan Pater, county of Arad \u2013 Prize III<\/p>\n Ionel Haraga, county of Ia\u0219i \u2013 Mentioned<\/p>\n The winners of Section II (glass painting)<\/em><\/strong> were the following:<\/p>\n Niculina Sanda Albu, county of Cluj \u2013 Prize I<\/p>\n Simona Teodora Ro\u0219ca, county of Cluj \u2013 Prize II<\/p>\n Alin Bogdan Pater, county of Arad \u2013 Prize III<\/p>\n Veronica Lucia \u021aa\u021ba, county of Cluj \u2013 Mentioned<\/p>\n To end with, the exhibition was opened and Mr Dan Mihai Ivanovici, Patriarchal Counsellor \u2013 Department for Culture and Religious Patrimony <\/em>presented its catalogue.<\/p>\n The meeting of the estimation commission within the National Contest of the “Orthodox Icon \u2013 Light of Faith\u201d, 3rd edition 2014 was held Tuesday, 6 May 2014, at the “Saint Constantine Brancoveanu\u201d patrimony Centre of Bucharest.
