12 March 1927 – Bishop IOACHIM MARES was born in Mărgirești, county of Bacău (baptized Ioan). Studies at the Theological Seminary of “Saint George” of Roman (graduated in 1946), at the Faculty of Theology of Suceava (1946 – 1948) and at the University Theological Institute of Cluj (1948 – 1950). Priest for the parishes of Damienești, county of Bacău, Leorda-Comanesti, county of Bacău (1962 – 1972), “St. Nicholas” – Bacău (1972-1978; deanery secretary at Moinești (1957-1967), president of the Eparchial Consistory of the Diocese of Roman and Huși (1972 – 1978), administrative vicar to this eparchy (1978-1985), then assistant hierarch, with the name of “Vasluianul”, for the same eparchy (ordained and installed on 24 November 1985). On 4 July 1996, he is elected Bishop of Huși, installed on 15 September 1996; he initiated big restoration works at the Eparchial Centre, founded a monastery in Huși and consecrated tens of churches.

Works. He wrote the Monographs of the churches of St. Nicholas of Bacău (1983) and of Mărginești (1988), various articles with Bible and historical character in “Mitropolia Moldovei si Sucevei” and the books Chronicle of the Eparchy of Roman (since 19189) and Chronicle of the Diocese of Huși (since 1996), whose printing he coordinated. He passed away on 24 April 2009, in Huși.
