7 July 1581 – Bishop ISAIA passed away. He seemed to have been
turned monk at Agapia, Bishop of Rădăuți (cca 1564 – the second half of
1577), retired before 1561, drafted the first collection of Moldavian
chronicles, made up of the Chronicle Putna I, Chronicle of Macarie –
short version – Chronicle of Eftimie; the same manuscript comprises a
“universal history”, made up of a Byzantine chronograph, Serbian annals
and a Bulgarian chronicle. Sent by John the Brave (1572 – 1574) on a few
diplomatic missions (Poland, Transylvania, Moscow).
