Today, 19 December 2014, several groups of carollers from various parts of the country were received at the Patriarchal Residence.
The group of carollers of “Anastasia Popescu” Orthodox Secondary School – Bucharest
The first group was that of “Anastasia Popescu” Orthodox Secondary School – Bucharest received by His Grace Ieronim Sinaitul, Assistant Bishop to the Patriarch. The 20 children sang traditional carols, having been blessed in the end and given presents on behalf of His Grace Ieronim Sinaitul.
“We congratulate you on behalf of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel and convey you our blessings and may the joy of the Nativity of Jesus Christ, our Saviour, rendered in carols and in other beautiful manifestations of the celebration in the church, in the sermons, complete and continue the angels’ message!”, His Grace said.
“Strajancuta” Folk group from Straja commune, county of Suceava
Then, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of Romania met “Strajancuta” folk group of the “Birth of the Mother of God” from Straja commune, county of Suceava. The group of carollers announced the Nativity of the Lord through chants typical for the region.
To end with, the Patriarch of Romania appreciated the beauty of the carols and of the national costumes of Bucovina: “Thank you very much for these beautiful carols and we congratulate you for the national costumes of Bucovina region which you keep with much faithfulness. These traditional carols are enriched in Bucovina, every year something new is added to them, which means that the people are creative, bringing about aspects of the light and joy of the feast of the Nativity of the Lord.
We wish you many blessed years of life, and may you celebrate the feast of the Nativity of Lord, the New Year, and the Baptism of the Lord with peace and joy, in good health for many blessed years!”
Group of children of Brosteni parish, deanery of Sibiu
His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel was also carolled by the group of children of Brosteni parish, deanery of Sibiu. The children sang several carols typical for the season. To end with, they received presents and were blessed by His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel.
“We congratulate you, and wish you good health, joy and blessed feasts! We also congratulate the father who is your spiritual shepherd and accompanied you here!”, His Beatitude said.
The parish priest offered, in his turn, His Beatitude, an icon of the Saints Emperors Constantine and Helen.
