Carollers from Bucovina at the Romanian Patriarchate

Today, 20 December 2013, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel was carolled by the “Sons of Putna” choral group. The event was held in Europa Christiana hall of the Patriarchate Palace. The young men from Putna locality close to Suceava sang Romanian traditional carols and “plugusorul” as well.

To end with, His Beatitude spoke about the importance of keeping our ancient customs: “Thank you very much for the beautiful carols, for “plugusor” and for all these beautiful traditions that you showed us as a treasure of our Christian Romanian Orthodox spirituality. We are glad because Bucovina has preserved the Romanian traditions very well, so that every year you add some other new carols to the old very well known ones. We wish you happy season’s feasts and the Nativity of the Lord to bring you good health and salvation, peace and joy, and the New Year 2014 good harvest of good deeds and the feast of the Baptism of Jesus Christ, our Lord, which reminds us the Christian baptism, to give you joy and the blessing of God. May you live many blessed years!”

The carollers accompanied by Rev Negrea Bogdan received gifts on behalf of the Patriarch of Romania.
