His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel Met the Counsellors and Bookkeepers of the Eparchies of the Country

Today, 17 April 2013, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church met in Europa Christiana hall of the Patriarchate Palace the counsellors and bookkeepers of the economical – financial departments of the eparchies of the Romanian Patriarchate.

His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel spoke to those present about the significance of the state of crisis, both spiritual and economical: “The spiritual and economical crisis of our country and, somehow, of the continent and of the whole world, obligates us to be solidary. We take into account during this period of crisis a judgement for things that have not been well done, a too great greed and waste in economy, referring first of all to a world scale. We also mention the possibility of discernment and of a new beginning. The crisis obligates people to review the way of doing things, of taking decisions, and of organising. It brings about the reorganisation of the life of an institution, as well as of a family. Thus, the crisis is a state of trial and change, and if we have strong faith in God and if we consult and cooperate with one another we can change a state of crisis into a new beginning”.

Then, His Beatitude underlined the importance of solidarity during this period of crisis: “The Romanian Patriarchate thought that needing more solidarity in time of crisis we must cultivate these three main lines more: consulting, co-responsibility and cooperation. It is consulting at the level of eparchies, Metropolitanates and at that of the Patriarchate. Through consultation we realize how much co-responsibility grows in a time when secularisation tries to diminish and marginalize the active presence and work of the Church in society. Therefore, we need more consulting, co-responsibility and cooperation”.

“More information and cooperation is needed (…); we are in a period when we must change the crisis into a chance, not to succumb, to change the crisis into a chance of renewal, of strengthening the unity and collaboration”, His Beatitude also said, according to Trinitas Radio station.

To end with, those present received gifts on behalf of the Patriarch of Romania.

Tuesday, 16 April 2013, and Wednesday, 17 April 2013, the counsellors and bookkeepers of the economical – financial departments of the eparchies of the Romanian Patriarchate met within a regional workshop entitled “Sustainability and sustainable financial management” organised through FORTE project, at the “Dumitru Staniloae” National Centre for Continuous Formation of the Romanian Patriarchate.
