Today, 11 November 2013, the synaxis of the abbots and abbesses of the monastic settlements of the Archdiocese of Bucharest was held in Conventus Hall of the Patriarchate Palace, under the chairmanship of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel. Representatives of the 43 monastic units of the Eparchy participated in the meeting.
The synaxis was opened by His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel who delivered a speech entitled Material Crisis calls man to spiritual conversion on the occasion.
Then, Rev Archimandrite Clement Haralam from Antim Monastery of Bucharest delivered the lecture on the theme Monasteries faced with the spiritual and economical crisis today.
Then, free discussions took place on the theme chosen this year. The synaxis is organised every year at the level of the Archdiocese of Bucharest, while at the Metropolitanate level the meeting with the abbots and abbesses of the monastic settlements is held periodically. The synaxis was preceded by the Divine Liturgy celebrated at the Patriarchal Cathedral by a group of exarchs of the monasteries of the Archdiocese of Bucharest together with the abbots of the great monasteries.
